A Couples Intensive offers a powerful and immersive experience for partners looking to strengthen their relationship. Unlike traditional therapy, which unfolds over months, a Couples Intensive condenses multiple sessions into one or two consecutive days. This accelerated format allows for deeper emotional engagement and meaningful progress.
This personalized format is beneficial for couples who want to:
•Address key relational concerns •Break free from a negative cycle of arguing and blame •Facilitate deeper healing and recovery •Strengthen emotional connection •Rebuild intimacy •Prepare for a significant life transition
Who Attends Couples Intensives?
A Couples Intensive is ideal for partners seeking focused, accelerated progress in their relationship. This structure of an Intensive Retreat is also convenient for couples with demanding schedules, those looking to combine treatment with a retreat experience, and partners seeking a relationship enhancement program outside their area of residence.
Therapeutic Approach
Couples Intensives utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) - an evidence-based method with the highest success rate among couple interventions. This focused approach helps uncover underlying relational issues, improve communication, and deepen emotional connection.

Intensives are held this private practice office space year-round. Virtual Couples Intensive (Massachusetts and New Hampshire)
For couples who prefer the convenience of connecting from home, Virtual Couples Intensives offer a flexible and accessible way to work on your relationship without the need to travel. I am licensed in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and clients need to be physically located in one of these states during virtual sessions. Virtual sessions are conducted via Zoom, and a private, secure link will be provided for each meeting.
What Happens After the Intensive?
To stay on track and reinforce the work you’ve done, I recommend scheduling a follow-up couples therapy session in advance. This helps reinforce the progress you’ve made and provides continued support as you apply what you’ve learned. If you don’t already have an EFT couples therapist, I’m happy to help you find a provider who fits your needs.
Is a Couples Intensive Right for You?
Couples Intensives designed to help partners address challenging issues, improve communication, and reconnect on a deeper level. While this process can be both powerful and transformative, it’s important to remember that every relationship is unique, and specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Considerations
For couples considering ethical non-monogamy, it’s essential to explore and address the needs of both partners before re-engaging with others. Open, honest communication and mutual agreement are key in this process.
Ongoing Affairs: If one partner is currently involved in an affair, a Couples Intensive is not recommended. Healing and rebuilding trust can only begin once the affair has been acknowledged and ended.
Domestic Violence or Threats of Harm: If there is domestic violence, threats of harm, or fear of physical violence, a Couples Intensive is not appropriate. In these cases, individual therapy and specialized interventions should be the first step to ensure safety and well-being.
